Nagios XI - Wizards Notification settings - continuation

Post by jacek »

Hi, this is a next question to the below thread, it would be nice if someone would unlock the previous and merge the two topics.
https://support.nagios.com/forum/viewto ... 16&t=37751

Please tell me how can I change the default value from 60 to 0 in all wizards?

Run your wizard, specify notification_interval=0 in Step 4, click on "Next" until you get to the final step, then click on "Save as Template". Make this a "global" template. Next time you run a wizard, click on "Finish with Template" button in Step 2, select your template from the drop-down menu , and click on "Finish".

OK, so there is no "real" method to change the default value (I knew about the templates).

Nope, the 'real' way is to use templates :D

Yeah, this would be helpful if template would only cover the notifications part ;-)
Maybe it's me being lazy :-P

We are always looking to improve the wizards and their templates - I'll make sure a feature request gets filed for defining a default notification interval.

I filed a feature request for this:
TASK ID 8417 created - Nagios XI Feature Request: Have global setting for notification interval or make wizard template more granular

Were there any other questions or may we close this thread?

No, not really, but there are a few things in the wizards I would change and add this to the request.
There should be an option to edit the wizard defaults per enduser, so I could set:
- default notification time (this could be also setable globally, for the whole environment)
- default contact or group to be notified, explaining below:

Today I add a lot of hosts to an machine as an enduser (masquerading), and I'm unticking to send notifications to "myself", to "any other individual contact", but ticking an user group, because there will be a few users looking at an particular device group, so I don't want them to be bind one-to-one to the hosts.
I think anyone can feel why I do this, so if the users will change I will only need to add them to the groups and voila ;-)

We've got this thread linked in the feature request, so the devs will see your additional comments. With that having been said, we will need to wait for that feature to be added - is it alright if we close up this thread?
