Post by dkelly »

Hi,

I'm experiencing this exact same problem:

I've upgraded to 5.2.7 and still having trouble. Does anyone know if there's a fix available?

First let's check a few things:

1. Look at the user in AD and note exactly (case-sensitive) what the username is:

In this example, let's say that the username is StevenH.

2. In XI, go to Admin > Manage Users and make sure that the username is a case-sensitive match: StevenH
- If it's the same, click update anyways so that it rewrites the /usr/local/nagios/etc/cgi.cfg file

3. Go to Configure > Core Config Manager > Contacts and make sure that the Contact Name is a case-sensitive match: StevenH
- Apply config if necessary

4. When the user logs in make sure that they type the exact case-sensitive username: StevenH

Let me know if that works, I will talk with the devs and see what the status is.

Also, the usernames don't have spaces in them, do they?

Hi,

Thanks for your response.

Taking myself as an example, I can confirm that:

In AD, it's formatted DKelly and in both "Manage Users" and Contacts, it's formatted DKelly. I've updated the user entry and confirmed that all the usernames in /usr/local/nagios/etc/cgi.cfg are matched to the right case.

Last but not least, I've made sure I enter it case sensitive into the login box - still no luck I'm afraid.

The only other thing I've noticed, is that in the top right hand corner, showing me who is logged in, it's formatted dkelly, but I'm sure that's irrelevant.

Was this a system that was working just fine with that user and then when you upgraded it started having issues?

If so, and the user previously existed, did you try deleting the user and re-importing them?

We've only really had Nagios for a few months - we're happy with the monitoring did of things, but we were waiting fora feed months of data to build up before trying the reporting, so this is it first attempt at it I'm afraid

Going back to my first question in that thread: Are you getting any errors in /var/log/httpd/error_log when it fails for the AD user?

I'm moving this to the customer section since you are a customer, we've added your username to the allowed list, you may need to logout and log back in. If you're unable to post in the customer section, just PM me and we'll get you sorted.

I'd like to move this into a ticket so that we can get a remote setup, please email [email protected] with a descriptive subject and a detailed body with a link back to this thread.

Thank you
