Nagios XI correlation dependency between two hosts
Nagios XI correlation dependency between two hosts
I have a master and a slave host. If the master host goes down and the slave host is up the Nagios must not create a critical alert as the slave host is still up. Instead it must create a warning alert for master host so that there is no need for immediate action. Can anyone please help how this can be done on Nagios XI??

Sounds like you're looking for BPI (https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... _Addon.pdf) or check_multi (https://exchange.nagios.org/directory/P ... ti/details). Both should work for your case.

Re: Nagios XI correlation dependency between two hosts
Thank you very much for the info. It was really helpful.
I am thinking of using BPI. But I've got one more question regarding this. Suppose I created a BPI group with two servers and one server goes down and BPI sends a notification. Will creating a BPI group suppress the notifications from the host. Or should I remove the notifications for that particular host?

Re: Nagios XI correlation dependency between two hosts
I believe that is correct - disable notifications on the host, and then leave that task up to BPI in order to avoid receiving multiple notifications.

Re: Nagios XI correlation dependency between two hosts
I have one more problem with this, when the main host is up and any of its service goes down it must give a critical notification. And if the main host is up and the service in the secondary host goes down it must give a warning notification rather than a critical notification. And if main host is down and secondary host is up and if the service goes down in the secondary host it must give a critical notification.can anyone help me with this please?
Re: Nagios XI correlation dependency between two hosts
What behavior are you witnessing it doing currently? Have you set BPI up yet?

Re: Nagios XI correlation dependency between two hosts
Sorry for the late reply. i got a chance to work on it now. I was able to setup the BPI. But I can't find an option to enable notifications for the BPI process. where can i configure notifications for the BPI process?
Re: Nagios XI correlation dependency between two hosts
You can run the BPI Wizard against your BPI group, and set up notifications in Step 4 of the wizard.
