1. Yes, we don't need them all. Just trying to understand if they're on a different subnet or what not.
2. So do they time out eventually, or does it just 'not work'? Can you show us the mixed ping results so that we have something to look at?
3. ICMP flooding is usually at a switch / router level, you would have to look if something stops probing or what not. Based on what you've said this far, and if nothing is technically going down -- it sounds like your being ICMP limited.

10.10.11.4 , 10.10.11.15 , 10.10.10.21, 7.7.7.30, 10.10.10.23 and so many.
It comes and goes. I can send the screenshots, once I reach office.
Is there a way to find the culprit ?

The screen shots will help. There really isn't, it could be a network loop somewhere, or perhaps the ICMP flood prevention.

Are those ping checks from the Nagios host?
You might want to run continual pings and output the data to a log file so you can catch anomalies.

Yes. specific 10-20 devices only.hsmith wrote:Is it always the same device(s) causing these problems?
If I change their subnet and refresh device, then ping works again, then again goes dead.
Then again I fresh change, again it works.
So, its kind of very very weird.

Ping works fine in switch and PC.Box293 wrote:Are those ping checks from the Nagios host?

Ping never gets cut to those devices.
but from server, it gets cuts.

Take a look at any firewall (on the clients) or switch logs to see if you can find something. It sounds like it's being blocked at that layer.

The ping would not work at the 1st place, if thats the case.rkennedy wrote:Take a look at any firewall (on the clients) or switch logs to see if you can find something. It sounds like it's being blocked at that layer.
Its like a ghost, it works now, stops next moment, then again work and then again stops.
