How to start xinetd after server reboot

The chkconfig is proper so it should start up automatically, if it isn't then there is something that xinetd doesn't like or is stopping it from starting.

Do you see any information in /var/log/messages that is related? What about the output of the dmesg command?

Thanks, ssax. The out from both shows lots of IO errors. I think I need to find out why the servers were shut down in the first place.
