LocalHost monitoring

Post by sdoan01 »

Hi,
I am monitoring 3 Windows Server with Nagios XI. As a default Nagios XI already is set to monitor the localhost server of Nagios that is running on VMWARE Player on Centos. If I go into the Nagios Core Config Manager and delete localhost from Services and Host under Monitoring, will that break Nagios XI. I have no need to monitor the Nagios Server because if it went down, obviously Nagios XI wouldn't work.
Thanks,
Steven

Steven,

localhost is included in the Nagios XI for "convenience". Removing it will not break anything. You can remove it as any other host, through the Core Config Manager - you must remove all of the services associated with it first, and then you can remove the host itself.
