Schedule downtime for all hosts and services?

Post by dfmco »

We have an outage that will take down an entire environment tonight. I tried to schedule downtime but it looks like you can only do a single service or host at a time and I have over 600 services! Any idea on how to schedule downtime for everything at once? Nagios Core has something about extinfo.cgi which looks promising but I see no instructions on how to use that.

In CCM create a hostgroup that has * as it's members.
Save and apply.
Home > Details > Hostgoup Summary
For the hostgroup you just created, click the icon "View Hostgroup Commands"
Here you can do:
  • Schedule Downtime For All Hosts In This Hostgroup
Schedule Downtime For All Services In This Hostgroup
I would do both.

Does this help?

So I go to add all hosts to a hostgroup and all services to a service group but all the available hosts/services are greyed out and have a "=>" in front of all. I see from the notes that this means "Denotes object relationship elsewhere". What can I do next?

Please ignore, all the hosts and services were already in the groups that I needed. Thanks for the info, that was exactly what I needed.

You should be able to select * at the bottom of the list, instead of selecting all the individual hosts.

You should only need to create one hostgroup, you won't need to create a servicegroup as the command "Schedule Downtime For All Services In This Hostgroup" will do all services for all hosts.

What version of XI do you have.
