Reporting Question

Post by ciaranrh »

Hello,

I was wondering if it's possible to select multiple hostgroups for a report? What I'd like to have is a pie graph for host/service uptime for a selection of hostgroups on a single page. Thus far I've tried:
-Making a 'master' hostgroup that contains the hostgroups I wish to report on, this takes the host/service average of all the individual host/service checks unfortunately and does not provide a breakdown per hostgroup.
-Adding the individual hostgroup reports to a custom dashboard, as far as I can tell however this will only be a report for that specific time and not dynamic

Thus I'm left wondering, is there an option I've missed in the reports page for a per hostgroup breakdown of data instead of an individual host breakdown of data? Failing that, if I add report output to a dashboard view, will that report output be dynamic (so show the last month of data from the current time) or relevant only to a specific time?

Thanks for any input :)

I've tried to reach that goal as well, by lumping all my host groups together into one big hostgroup, but the results are the same as what you've noted. I don't see any other way to run a report on multiple hostgroups at once while the output shows a break down (pie chart or otherwise) of each host group. I'll have to file a feature request for this functionality but before I do, what type of report(s) would yo like this available on? I've been testing using Availability and Executive Summary reports.

I'd be looking for much the same for me, Availability and Executive Summary reports. That'd be an awesome feature to have, maybe a check mark under advanced options for 'aggregate hostgroups' so they can be listed by individual host or by hostgroup.

It seems that adding the individual pie charts to a dashboard isn't a feasible work around either as the charts are specific to only the time frame they list in the report. I verified that today but temporarily disabling a lab server from checks and checking the corresponding changes in uptime percentages.

Ok, thanks for clarifying - I submitted a feature request for this - TASK ID 8975. However, I can't say when or if this will be implemented since that is entirely dev's call to make.
Were there any other questions?

That's all, having this functionality built into Nagios would be awesome :D

Thanks for opening the request!
