update nagios config without restart?

Post by kendallchenoweth »

Is it possible with any feature in Nagios to make configuration changes without a nagios restart? If there a new feature in XI 5 that helps accomplish this? If so, how?

Thanks!

Sure, you can use the "Apply Configuration" button:

Doesn't that stop and start the nagios core backend service?

Yes, an apply configuration still restarts the nagios core service. Unfortunately, there isn't a way around this.

Yes, it does. I assumed you were restarting via command line. Regardless, restarting is nececessary when you modify your configuration files and want those changes to take effect, and i believe it has been this way ever since the product was NetSaint - there are no other alternatives to this at this point.
