Thanks again Naveed. 8000/tcp filtered http-alt Has to be a network device somewhere causing this - I honestly do not see any other possibilities.

We have internal load balancer ILB.
Might be that causing this behavior

ILB port is also 8000

aha - that LB with port 8000 would certainly be the culprit then!
