Upgarding the nagios machine from nagios core to nagios xi

Post by katya »

Hi,

We have nagios core installed on our Linux machine.

We want to upgarde the same machine to nagios xi version.

We don't have a clean machine we have only this machine.

Please suggest what we need to do?

Thanks in advanced

I don't think this is going to be possible, as it depends on quite a few factors.

- How did you install Core?
- What version of Core?
- What OS / version is the machine running?

Based on these answers it might be though, so we'll see.

I did some testing and it's not going to work. You will need to spin up a new machine for XI. Then follow our documents to prepare your configuration files, and then import them to XI.

A general guide -
https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... ios_XI.pdf

Using the config import prep tool -
https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... p-Tool.pdf

Then, you will need to import them into XI -

There are still other components at play. The requirements for XI, are a clean, unmodified system, so you'll need to follow this and setup a new machine.

It's not possible for us to provide this, as we don't know how it was installed.

You'll have to blow away your existing Nagios server, install the OS from scratch and then install Nagios XI.

It's not impossible, but it is not something we can support. It would require re-writing the web interface code.
