Ngios Core 4.2.1 corrupt

I downloaded Nagios Core 4.2.1 (nagios-4.2.1.tar.gz) when I tried to extract it I got this message.

Is there and MD5 hash that I can verify that file is good or not and has anyone else run into this issue yet?

You might need to gunzip it first and then untar it.

Was this your precise command? It's got to be

Otherwise it would try to process an archive or file named "xzf" which obviously can't be found.

That is going to depend on the version, but in this case that does look like a possibility. On that note, @hbackus, can you tell us the version of tar you are using (tar --version)?

Also, on what OS are you running Nagios Core?

Lastly, if you haven't already, please see @Box293's comment about using gunzip first.

For anyone else that has the problem
– FYI –
The download from the Nagios website is a few bytes short of the download from a “wget” command line download.
The hash on the files is different also.
The tar from a “wget” works OK. The tar from the website gives the error I listed in the original post.
Consequently don’t use the website for the 4.2.1 release.

Its' MD5 checksum is 5CC60E374D61BDE0E506D67FD52EF776

The good tar file that I used to upgrade Nagios came down with 10,895 KB

It's checksum is 96A71803C10AFE1A7D2B05E61E35578A
