Can you run ll -R /usr/local/nagiosxi/html > /tmp/perms.txt and then post your /tmp/perms.txt in the thread. All the users/groups should be nagios, so there shouldn't be any confidential information, unless you've modified or added file/directory names in a way that would be confidential.
Re: 5.2.9 > 5.3.0 upgrade - duplicate api_key error
All of the users and groups are set correctly from what I can tell, it's just the rwx permissions that were off on some of the new files. I've attached the output.

I'm wondering if the images not displaying might be a browser caching issue. http://www.refreshyourcache.com/en/home/ should be of use for clearing the browser cache.
Also, I didn't think through my command earlier. Could you run ls -lh --time-style=+ -R /usr/local/nagiosxi/html > /tmp/perms.txt and post it here. Thanks!

Great on the images! For clarity, are all of the issues resolved? If so, is it ok if we close the ticket? If you end up having any other UI issues crop up, we can always use these permission files we have to help troubleshoot those.
Re: 5.2.9 > 5.3.0 upgrade - duplicate api_key error
I'm tempted to say yes, but while this is working on my test system after those manual steps, I'm pretty sure doing this on prod will bring about the same results. I'd rather not have to hunt through the apache error logs in order to determine file permission errors and manually update them once at a time.
I haven't had any issues with the last couple of updates, but then again, I'm not sure there were any new files created on the system. Are the newer files I listed (that I had to adjust) supposed to have the permissions they do, or are they getting changed when they hit my system?

Re: 5.2.9 > 5.3.0 upgrade - duplicate api_key error
We haven't been able to reproduce your UI issues, just the initial install issues. That said, it may be worth waiting until 5.3.1 to upgrade in production, which will give us some additional time to test the permission issues. I do not have a date yet, but my understanding is that it will not be a long wait.
Re: 5.2.9 > 5.3.0 upgrade - duplicate api_key error
Understood. Let's close this up and I'll try out 5.3.1 when it drops, and open another if I run into the same issues. Thanks for your help!

I am going to lock the thread. As always, please feel free to post again if you have you another issue. Thank you for using the Nagios forums!
