Re: Cannot connect to Nagios XI database
Have you tried repairing the database? https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... tabase.pdf
Is it an offloaded database?
Also, I'd like to note that CentOS 5 is losing support in March. You probably want to go ahead and think about upgrading to CentOS 7 (or 6).

Re: Cannot connect to Nagios XI database
I ran through the vaccum steps again and they worked this time. I forgot to run it for template1 database before. One additional question I have is that we have 2 servers. 1 operational and a backup. I noticed that our backup server was also showing database error. The way we managed these is by performing backups on our primary and restoring on our backup. Is there some database info that we need to modify on our backup so that it does not try to connect to the primary database? Because based on the behavior I observed it seems there is something pointing it to our primary db.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Cannot connect to Nagios XI database
Is the backup database on the same server as the backup Nagios?
Likewise, is the production database on the same server as the backup Nagios?
If the answer to both of these is yes, then there's no reason why the backup would be pointing to the production. If the database is on another server, then the backup scripts would need to change the IP address.
Did you just notice the backup pointing to prod, or is this an ongoing issue?

Re: Cannot connect to Nagios XI database
They are separate servers with local database. This is the first time i noticed this. We always assumed they were configured for local database. But based on what we observed during this issue it doesn't seem the case. Are there some config files I can check to verify. In addition, it seems our performance graphs are no longer showing data prior to the database failure. They are showing data since the failure but historical data is not working.
Re: Cannot connect to Nagios XI database
Disregard the comment about historical data. It appears to be working now. I guess it needed a couple cycles to wake up.

The offloaded DB document will show you all the config files that reference the databases:

Am I understanding you correctly that all of your issues are resolved? If so, is it ok if we go ahead and close this thread?
