Core Configuration Manager Not Updating

Post by robsoninc »

When we make changes in the core configuration manager we do not see the service/hosts/contacts in Nagios. They are in the configuration manager, but are not the main XI service/host menus.. Any ideas? We did a import of our existing core configuration in to XI. No errors.

Did you hit the 'Apply Configuration' button after making your changes? Your changes will not actually take effect immediately; you have to tell XI to write the new config files.

Yeah. And the status bar comes up as it writes.. takes about 30-40 seconds and then says it was successful. I have even tries restarting the services after.

Also checked and the entries in the config are sync'd and active.

could you run the following on the server and attach reconfig.txt

Code: Select all

# cd /usr/local/nagiosxi/scripts
# reconfigure_nagios.sh &> reconfig.txt

Not sure if this helps, but when I login and run "ps -ef" I see a list of pings to systems that are apart of my host lists, but under host details in XI all I see is localhost..

Can you try applying configs manually using the Core Config Manager->Write Config Tool and see if the results are any different?

When you did your import from core, you had several options as described in this document
http://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nagi ... ios_XI.pdf

Did you choose to just place them in the /usr/local/nagios/etc/static directory? If so that would likely be the reason.

You you would like to import them into the XI database the documentation is here:

Hey Guys.. I did copy my config files on to the /usr/local/nagios/etc folder and then did an import from there. I have written the config from the tools menu and restarted Nagios. I also tried to do another import of a small host file and that didn't show up in XI. Should I start over and copy the config files to a temp folder and then import?
