Hi all,
I'm currently evaluating Nagios XI. I was wondering if Nagios XI have modules for Network and SAN Storage monitoring? Or do I have to use another product? What is Network Analyzer?
Thanks
Sonnie Nguyen

Could you be a little more specific about your NNA question? You can find the basics at https://www.nagios.com/products/nagios- ... -analyzer/
Have you used your free quickstart for XI? Details at https://www.nagios.com/services/quickstart/. In the quickstart, a tech can go through the network and SAN Storage options.
XI, even without enterprise can do some Network and SAN Storage monitoring. You can find a list of plugins at https://exchange.nagios.org/directory/P ... AN-and-NAS. If you tell us a bit more about your setup, then we can help point you in the right direction about plugins. Some things will work out of the box, but not everything. Thanks!

To provide a bit more information, their are a few wizards that should work to monitor your network devices as long as SNMP is enabled. See the switch / router wizard, SNMP wizard, or SNMP Walk wizard as well. Network Analyzer can be integrated in XI, to gain more information about the actual traffic. The link @dwhitfield posted is a great resource.
For the SAN, it is generally either SNMP, check_nrpe, or check_by_ssh, which will help you gain the statistics on the inside metrics.

Re: Does Nagios XI enterprise monitor Network and Storage?
Right now, I'm only evaluating Server monitoring, but I'm interested in Network and Storage monitoring in the future. I just want to know if I were to purchase Nagios XI enterprise, will I be able to configure basic network and storage monitoring. Right now, I don't have specific network or storage requirements. I also like to know what Network Analyzer offer that is not included with XI.
Re: Does Nagios XI enterprise monitor Network and Storage?
You can check network bandwidth per port on routers/switches/servers/firewalls AND port status (up or down) with the Network Router / Switch wizard in Configure > Configuration Wizards to get basic network details but you will not see netflow/sFlow data.
You should be able to monitor storage with an existing plugin likely through SNMP, that really depends on your storage device though and what it supports.
It's usually advisable to talk with your storage vendor to see what options they have for monitoring and if they have an API/plugin currently available to do it, if not you can write your own or search our exchange for an existing plugin:
https://exchange.nagios.org/directory/Plugins
See here as well (NNA is a way better product for this though) for basic netflow:

Yes, you will. You can use a free trial of Nagios XI to confirm this.sonnienguyen wrote: I just want to know if I were to purchase Nagios XI enterprise, will I be able to configure basic network and storage monitoring.
Most of what NNA does is not done by Nagios XI, or at least at level of insight by default.sonnienguyen wrote: I also like to know what Network Analyzer offer that is not included with XI.
The question is fundamentally difficult to answer because both platform are very flexible and if you put a lot of work into one you can make it overlap with the functionality of the other.
The best way to see if it fills a need and is valuable to you is to setup a test system and see if you like it. Prebuilt VM images are here:

The features and benefits of each product give more of the 10,000 foot overview:

Thanks for all your responses. It have been very helpful. I will continue to evaluate.
I've notice that my 60 days trial have expired. Do I need to reinstall and reconfigure Nagios again if I'm still testing?
