Can you send a screenshot?

In general, acknowledgements are an action a user takes when the state of a service is in warning or critical. The acknowledgement suppresses notifications. What I am currently confused about is why a process would be doing that automatically. I'm hoping the screenshot will help resolve what exactly is going on.

Unfortunately the service has recovered and no longer present under Incident Management. I too am confused and have witnessed this behavior periodically in the past. Wording on the line items was " acknowledged by Nagios Process".

We'll keep an eye out for another occurrence and attach a screenshot.

There might be something useful in tail -100 /usr/local/nagios/var/nagios.log. Can you post? Otherwise, we can keep this open and just wait for the screenshot.

How many users have access to the Nagios WebUI?

UPDATE: log received and shared with techs

I did a few greps in the log, didn't find anything that stood out. I'll email you the log.

OK, I had the time to confirm this. It's a user acknowledgement. It's just that it gets run through the nagios process. I could put in a FR to have a more useful message, if you like.

Yes, that would be most helpful in a muti-user environment for accounting purposes. Can you PM me user details? Also, the type of process and advice on how to identify these issues in the future?

I was working on the FR and I realized I needed to clarify something. When you see this notice, are logged in as nagiosadmin? Thanks!

Nobody logs in as nagiosadmin. Either an account with admin credentials, or regular user getting passed through Fusion as a regular user. In the latest case, it was a Fusion pass-thru account.

I personally witnessed the event but at the time did not note if I was admin or fusion (as you're aware, Fusion has a long outstanding issue with proper account pass-thru).

That was really helpful information! I submitted internal FR 10309 on your behalf.

Unfortunately, I don't have a good answer for how to root out these issues on your own other than letting you know that all of the standard log locations are listed at https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... ptions.pdf

Additionally, if you have a thorny issue, you can go through the profile. You can download it by going to Admin > System Config > System Profile and click the Download Profile button in the top right corner. That has a lot more information than if you just press the Show Profile button beside it.

Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you right now. Otherwise, you can use the FR # above to check in on things in the future. Thanks!
