Post by luckyme »

Hello,

So i was asking my friend "The Nagios Men" a lot of questions. he tell me to register search if someone else have asked my question or i can ask and see if is possibile.

My question is this:
Is it possible with nagiosXi after the Auto-Discovery to have the list of software installed on a host and the user that logged in last? :?:

This will not be possible, for a few reasons.

Primarily, this sort of information is not generally available/broadcasted by the remote machine, so Nagios would need to have internal access on any remote machine whose metrics you wished to check. So in that regard, our Auto Discovery wizard would not do this. It can detect things like HTTP and SSH that listen on public open ports, but nothing internal.

Second, Nagios is not intended as an inventory system which is what I would assume you are looking for with the software lists. Even if you had an agent like NRPE installed, while you could write a plugin to do what you want it would not fit in well with the intended purpose of Nagios.

Sure thing! Is it alright if we close this thread and mark the issue as resolved?
