Monitoring Devices with Nagios

Post by emartine »

I was going through the training manual again and noticed that SNMP traps on Nagios xi goes through the process of restarting snmptrapd snmptt and nagios. I noticed that snmptt is not available.

So far I've attempted to use all three snmp related wizards with no resolve.

Configuration Wizard: SNMP Walk - Step 2
No results were returned from a scan of the device. This may be due to the fact that SNMP is not enabled, or you specified incorrect scan settings.
You may either change your settings or try the same scan again.

The highlighted "change your settings" is an empty page. Am I missing a package???

First of all, have you followed this document?

https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... ios_XI.pdf

An snmpwalk isn't going to detect snmptt. snmptt is a receiving daemon while standard snmp is a sending daemon with snmpwalk being the poller.
No results were returned from a scan of the device. This may be due to the fact that SNMP is not enabled, or you specified incorrect scan settings.
You may either change your settings or try the same scan again.
This indicates the target host was not running an snmp daemon at the location you specified.
