Upgrade?

Post by lntyee »

Hi –

I’ve been using the trial version of Nagois XI and there is an update available. Can you please explain how the update/upgrades are done? When I click on the “get the latest version” link, it just takes me to the main page. I’m wondering if this is just because I’m in trial mode or if each time there is an upgrade I’ll need to re-download and re-setup the whole program.

Thanks for any information.

Upgrades must be done as root and this level of access is not currently available to the web interface. The upgrade process is done from the same source tree as an install, but the upgrade process is a single step as it builds on the previous install it should be seamless.

Hi - thanks for the reply. So, I'm still not sure what you mean... I undertand the 'you need to run it as root', but what file do I download and how is it installed? Can you point me to instructions for getting this done? I want to be sure I am comfortable with the process before the trial is done and I decide to purchase it. I'm a windows person, so I only know a little linux, so to me it's not obvious what the process is. Thanks.

Hi,

You will need to connect to the server via ssh and run through the attached guide. The guide is simple provided you have ssh access to the server.

I would shutdown the server and take a copy of the virtual hard disk before you upgrade and keep as a backup.

Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris -

I tried this out, but when I try to download the update, I get the following error:
"Resolving assets.nagios.com...failed: Temporary failure in name resolution. wget: unable to resolve host address 'assets.nagios.com'.

Is there another location? Thanks.

The address is secure.nagios.com (173.45.234.224), make sure to fake your "host" header.

Thanks, but that doesn't work either.. name or the IP. The name give the same error as before, and the IP gives me a 404: not found error.
