re-configure wizard overwrites un-desired settings

Post by Mitchell »

I created a host using CCM>Hosts. In hostgroups field of this host, I used (+) to be able to use 'Additive Inheritance' from the template alongwith additional hostgroup selected. this works perfectly fine.

If you modify this host from Home>HostStatusDetail>Configure>re-configure host wizard, it will remove the (+) 'Additive Inheritance'. if you select a group, it will overwrite this setting as 'standard' and if you do not select any group it overwrites with this setting with 'null'. Same applies to Contact and ContactGroup field.

it also overwrites 'Notification options' and 'First notification delay' to basic settings.

I am avoiding this wizard to make changes so I am good, but I wanted to bring this to your attention.

Can you describe in more details all of the steps you took, so we can recreate this issue? Thanks!

Here you go...
  • 1. Defined a host template Template-A with a contact group in it.
    2. Then created few hosts and included Template-A to host defination. Also, Added additional contact groups with 'Additive Inheritance' in these host definations; so that contact groups from both(host template and hosts) are notified.
    4. This configuration works fine as expected.
    5. if you modify his host from the Home>HostStatusDetail>Configure>re-configure host wizard, the 'Additive Inheritance' will be overwritten by either 'standard' or 'null' based on your choices in wizard.
While modifying the host using this wizard, if you have one or more contact groups selected, the inheritence will be updated with 'standard'; if you have unselected/un-checked all contact groups, the inheritence will be updated with 'null.'
    6. Same logic applies to hostgroup inheritence in host defination.
Please let me know if need anymore information.
