best way to process passive traps

Post by strmon »

Hi,

I am trying to integrate a ticketing system with nagiosXI. Need your help in:-
: What is the best way to configure passive checks for device sending status snmp traps, i.e check time setting , freshness
: Is it a good practice to rest trap after some time let say 2hrs ?
: What setting to use at ticketing system end when it recive OK msg from NagiosXi, chances are device is not-responding after sending some trap and OK msg is just result of Nagios Rest.
: how ticketing system is used to configure traps received from nagiosxi, in production ?

Any help in this regard will be a great help and please do not fwd me to exchange or your how to guide.

I know you asked to not be forwarded to a how-to guide, but just about every question could be addressed in our SNMP traps documentation or one of it's referenced knowledge base articles:
https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... ios_XI.pdf

We don't offer specific advice for "best practices" since everyone's infrastructure and desired outcomes will be different.
What setting to use at ticketing system end when it recive OK msg from NagiosXi, chances are device is not-responding after sending some trap and OK msg is just result of Nagios Rest.
Could you expand on this a bit more? What ticketing system are you referring to? Nagios XI notifications should (all other things being equal) always be dispatched when a problematic SNMP trap is received.
how ticketing system is used to configure traps received from nagiosxi, in production ?
As requested above, could you explain what you mean by "ticketing system"? Are you wanting to use Nagios XI to send SNMP traps to a 3rd party ticketing system?
