How to monitor the status of a device
How to monitor the status of a device
We're trying out Network Analyzer to help us be more proactive in monitoring our network. We're pleased with the bandwidth monitor, but couldn't find if there is a way to simply monitor when a router/server was no longer talking. I attempted to do a search and didn't find anything, so forgive me if this is a FAQ. We'd like to do it all within a single web interface, if possible.
Re: How to monitor the status of a device
The Nagios Network Analyzer is used to analyze the network flow data it receives from a switch or router that is configured to send it's data to the Network Analyzer.
But the Network Analyzer cannot detect that a device is down on the network but we have another product that will do this for you.
It is called Nagios XI and you can take a look at the link below for more details on Nagios XI.

Re: How to monitor the status of a device
That's kinda what it seemed. It does jump up considerably in cost to go with XI just to add status functionality, so we may need to look elsewhere. Thanks for the quick reply, however.

You could use Nagios Core: https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... Source.pdf
It's also in many distribution repos, but the repos don't always get updated in a timely fashion, so I'd really suggest compiling it.
