Renamed Hosts

Post by kiddbios »

I recently renamed some hosts to better organize our views. They used to be named "servername.domain.com" and I changed them to "Customer Name - Servername". Everything seemed to work fine and updated properly, but now I have both host names showing up in the Nagios Views. Also, if I assign a service to the windows-servers group it will show up in the services details view under the old host name as well as the new host name. In the nagios core config, only the new hostname shows up. I checked the services and hostgroups and only the new hostname shows up there as well. Is there somewhere else I can check to eliminate this?

Thanks,

Brad

I was able to fix this by stopping the Nagios service and manually deleting the host config files from usr/local/nagios/etc/hosts and usr/local/nagios/etc/services. I'm not sure what created the "ghost" entries when I renamed the hosts.

Thanks,

Brad

It isn't too common for this to happen, but I have seen it, and the resolution is exactly what you have done.
