Ok, I find the changelog entry confusing personally, but I spoke with the devs and this and they said it doesn't do the check in that case.
As of the moment, you just need to recompile the change. I believe you could also use an event handler for this, but I think this is going to change the timing. It's possible it's close enough to get you what you want though.
