Hello,
Very new to Nagios XI and looking for some assistance. I am attempting to setup monitoring of a host using contact templates and host templates for the first time in the WEB UI and can't seem to get notifications to be sent to myself.
What I have setup so far....
Host Group named Websphere Non-Prod Servers. Within that host group there are hosts added
Host Template named Websphere. I have the host group Websphere Non-Prod Servers added to that template
Contact Group named Websphere with my nagios contact added to that contact group
Contact Template named Websphere with the contact group named websphere added to the template.

Re: Setting up monitoring using templates
It doesn't sound like you've connected you contact to your host in any way. You may have already looked at https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... ios-XI.pdf, but if not, I think you'll find it helpful.
Also, can you PM me your Profile? You can download it by going to Admin > System Config > System Profile and click the ***Download Profile*** button towards the top. If for whatever reason you *cannot* download the profile, please put the output of View System Info (5.3.4+, Show Profile if older) in the thread (that will at least get us some info). This will give us access to many of the logs we would otherwise ask for individually. If security is a concern, you can unzip the profile take out what you like, and then zip it up again. We may end up needing something you remove, but we can ask for that specifically.
You can also generate a profile manually using the script at /usr/local/nagiosxi/html/includes/components/profile/getprofile.sh
That should generate a profile in /usr/local/nagiosxi/var/components/ which you can get off the server with an application such as FileZilla.
After you PM the profile, please update this thread. Updating this thread is the only way for it to show back up on our dashboard.

Re: Setting up monitoring using templates
There was nothing attached to the PM.
On the alert settings tab for hosts (& templates) and services (& templates) in the CCM, you can add contacts and contact groups. Did you do this? It sounds like you have host templates and contact templates that are completely disconnected.
UPDATE: Profile received and shared with techs

Re: Setting up monitoring using templates
Sorry about that. I resent the profile just now.
On the alert setting tab for the host template I have my contact group added under "manage contact groups"
I just created a service template with a check command of check-host-alive and added my hostgroup to that service template. Under alert settings I also added my contact group which I am a member of. If I need to send you a new profile with that change I can do so. Thanks

Re: Setting up monitoring using templates
Can you give specific names of everything involved here? Also, yes, an updated profile would be nice just so we can put all of the pieces together.
Also, you should take a look at https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... tance.html

Re: Setting up monitoring using templates
After your PM, I would suggest using http://YOURSERVER/nagiosxi/includes/com ... /index.php to add the contact group to the services and hosts you would like. It's not the only way to do this, but I believe it is the easiest at this point.
Re: Setting up monitoring using templates
I am just getting a server not found from that link

I didn't want to give out your server IP, but try https://10.126.200.239/nagiosxi/include ... /index.php

Re: Setting up monitoring using templates
Would like to give this one more try if possible.
I have a contact template named "Websphere". I have a service template named "Check Host Alive". I have a host template named "Websphere".
I am attempting to get all of those templates applied to the hostgroup named "WebSphere Non-Prod Servers" and the contact group named "Websphere".
My contact name "Marcello.Amente" is the only contact in the contact group named "websphere"
I have some servers in that hostgroup "WebSphere Non-Prod Servers" that should be alerting me because they are turned off but I not getting any email notifications.
I have attached the most recent profile with all of these changes I have made in regards to the above. Was thinking maybe you could tell me if I missed anything. We have hundreds of hosts in our environment and my thinking was this would be the easiest way to manage alerts such as host up\down.
