Graphing not working properly

Recently i noticed a little problem with graphs in Nagios XI, from time to time graphs show values 0Mbps, and after 1-2 hours value is ok. This is problem because i need really presize graphing.

it looks like you could be hitting thresholds with performance - have you thought about implementing a ramdisk for your performance data processing? it'll help with the mass amount of smaller files.

If the graphs that are showing 0mbps are only wrong for bandwidth graphs, the other cause of that issue is the MRTG process that gathers the bandwidth information for XI.
To troubleshoot that, can you run the following command as root and either post or PM me the /tmp/mrtg.txt file?

The problem is with only bandwidth graphs, non bandwith performs normally. I tried to implement ramdisk, and increase a threshold but problem still persist.

I am thinking that the time it takes to run the MRTG application is taking over 5 minutes and that they are not finishing in time so lets increase the number of processes so it will finish quicker.
Edit this file.
/etc/mrtg/mrtg.cfg and change this line from

Forks: 4

to

Code: Select all

Forks: 12

Save the file and restart cron by running

Code: Select all

service crond restart

That will triple the number of processes so it will finish quicker.

Another cause it that when it runs, it opens so many files, it exceeds the open file limit.
To fix that edit this file /etc/security/limits.conf
Add or edit the following lines to the end of the file:

* soft nofile 10000
* hard nofile 10000

Save the file and you may have to reboot the server for the changes to take effect.
