SLA reports (and all other reports) make avail.cgi stuck

Post by avik »

Hi,
we are running the Nagios XI 5.4.8 - and have major issues related to the reporting functions.

We have about 2700 host and 13000 services.

When we do a report, it runs for ages, and we can se the avail.cgi process running 1 CPU to the limit. It looks single-threaded, so adding more CPU to the VM doesnt look to help.

PS - we do have annual support, how do I get to post in the XI Customer support forum?

Best regards
Ole

Okay, lets first try Legacy reports and see let me know how it performs...see below..
LegacyReports.PNG
Legacy2.PNG
Let me know if that helps and if you get the same problem i will tell you what to do next.

But if its XI follow this documentation....https://support.nagios.com/kb/article/n ... ables.html

Hi,
I tested it and legacy reports are certainly faster - although I can see a spike on avail.cgi going to 100% for a few seconds.

Making a report for the last week for all 2700 hosts went fine in 35 seconds, and a SLA report for 1 weeks uses at least 5 minutes - not to mention if I try for a month. Then its stuck for maybe 15 minutes and the web-gui even becomes non-responsive.

Thanks for you replies

Did you set up the ramdisk as I suggested? Are you happy with the legacy reports?

If you'd like to continue, can you PM me your Profile? You can download it by going to Admin > System Config > System Profile and click the ***Download Profile*** button towards the top. If for whatever reason you *cannot* download the profile, please put the output of View System Info (5.3.4+, Show Profile if older) in the thread (that will at least get us some info). This will give us access to many of the logs we would otherwise ask for individually. If security is a concern, you can unzip the profile take out what you like, and then zip it up again. We may end up needing something you remove, but we can ask for that specifically.

You can also generate a profile manually using the script at /usr/local/nagiosxi/html/includes/components/profile/getprofile.sh

That should generate a profile in /usr/local/nagiosxi/var/components/ which you can get off the server with an application such as FileZilla.

After you PM the profile, please update this thread. Updating this thread is the only way for it to show back up on our dashboard.

Sorry for the late reply.

I havent setup the Ramdisk yet.

Since we run on OS version 6.9 its just to to the automated thing?
Using Ramdisk has no downside at all? Like - all historical data are being kept after reboot?

Thanks

Essentially, there is no downside, as long as you follow our instructions. You could lose a point in time of perfdata if the machine loses power suddenly, but it's likely that will be the case either way.
