My initial test seemed to show that it works fine with FF. I will do more testing tonight and report back.

Thanks.

I was able to make the changes with Firefox. However we had a host go down and never got notified. I looked in CCM and the contacts we there correctly. To get it to notify correctly I had to go into the wizard and do a reconfigure from there and select the contact.

Correct, that's used in multi-tenancy setups to control access. I've never thought about it, but I'd hope that those options would be sticky.

So you are saying that I can't make changes through CCM?

Nagios Core(the backed to the CCM) "should be" configured to use the NagiosXI event handler. This handler does not use the address information stored in the Nagios Core Configuration.

Any questions?

That was as clear as mud.

So yes is the answer since I'm using NagiosXI I cannot make changes with CCM to hosts or services?

You can, you just have to make sure your contacts are using the right template. There's a "generic-contact" and "xi_contact-generic" (or similar wording), which behave in totally different ways. Your contact will only use XI settings if it's set to use the XI contact template.

My contact is displayed in the Capture.jpg file.

Where should I check to make sure the host or service is set correctly? The capture1.jpg is the setting for one of the services showing the template.

Thanks.

Perhaps the answer is Mud, what was the question again?

You can make "Email address" changes in the CCM and they effect Nagios Core, well rather they effect the Nagios Core email notifications. NagiosXI has a Notification system that replaces the one in Nagios Core, though both are entirely usable.

As Tony pointed out it depends on what template your contact uses(in the CCM) or rather the Notification Command for that contact. "nagiosadmin" is known to use the legacy Nagios Core notification command and we advise ppl to switch that to be the new one.

That "Contact Setup" is 'correct', in that case the email settings for that contact in teh CCM would be ignored... provided the Notification Command was left up to the template.
