Hi,
I used the configuration wizard to monitor URL address that is https://abc.def.ghi/etc/ and used all the default settings in the wizard.
It looks like it created a Host object and service object.
When I view the HOST status dashboard the status shows being DOWN and is in Red and the error message is "HTTP CRITICAL - No data received from host".
Because this URL is HTTPS over port 443, why does the error message indicate "HTTP CRITICAL..."? Should it not be HTTPS CRITICAL instead?
Also, add to confusion, when I view the Service Status, the service status is "OK" and highlighted in Yellow and gives me the message"HTTP OK: HTTP/1.1 200 OK - 328 bytes in 0.559 second response time".
It seems like it is giving me a conflicting message. Could someone explain if this is working the way it should and why so?
thanks,
ik.

Hi, @ikekim. When you ran the config wizard, did you check the box "Use SSL" and specify the port?

Re: HTTP CRITICAL - No data received from host
Thanks for the reply..the config wizard selects the SSL and the port 443 by default once enter the URL with HTTPS://...
That is why the result that I'm seeing is not making sense.
thanks,
Ike.

@ikekim, Is your https link accessible from outside of the network? If yes you can PM it to me and i'll try to see whats going on.
Also, can you send me your Profile? You can download it by going to Admin > System Config > System Profile and click the ***Download Profile*** button in the top right corner. *If* for whatever reason you cannot download the profile, please put the output of View System Info (5.3.4+, Show Profile if older). This will give us access to many of the logs we would otherwise ask for individually. If security is a concern, you can unzip the profile take out what you like, and then zip it up again. We may end up needing something you remove, but we can ask for that specifically.
You can also generate a profile manually using the script at /usr/local/nagiosxi/html/includes/components/profile/getprofile.sh
That should generate a profile in /usr/local/nagiosxi/var/components/ which you can get off the server with an application such as FileZilla.
If zip files are not allowed, or the attachment is too large, feel free to use http://otrs.nagios.com/upload.php but please make sure you fill in the ticket# appropriately. If you do not see the ticket # in your subject, I will be happy to give it to you.
If you get an error that PROFILE BUILD FAILED, please see https://support.nagios.com/kb/article.p ... ategory=44

Re: HTTP CRITICAL - No data received from host
Although I'm not sure exactly how I caused the issue, but I was able to correct the issue.
What I did was I created a HOST first and applied the config and then I created the service and attached it to the HOST and this worked.
I think I ran the the configuration wizard and somehow I was able to create the service config and this seemed to have caused the symptom that I have reported.
thanks,
ik.
