@tony, Looks like you installed the NRPE agent on the XI, and that installation updated the plugins including check_nrpe. Normally you wouldn't need to have the NRPE Daemon running on the XI, unless you intend to monitor it from another Nagios server. That's why my recommendation was to replace only check_nrpe plugin on the XI. However, this still brought you to the result you were looking for.
