I don't have enterprise version of XI, therefore i have to do into each service/host to add notification? I have around 400 hosts/services. This is a pain. Is it easier to just change my email to the distributions email that included me and several other people? If so, please tell me where all the places I will need to change.
thanks

Re: add notification email
If you do not have the enterprise edition of XI.
You could try using the addon address in a contact in the Core config manager --> click a contact, and add in an email address?
Using the notify-host-by-email/notify-service-by-email commands. (generic-contact template)
Using the $CONTACTADDRESSx$ macro. (Example: $CONTACTADDRESS1$) which is equal to the email address you put in the addon address in XI

This is an old thread, but it lists a way to get it working.

Note: Editing the default notify commands could not be a good idea. You should create a separate command when doing this, in case you ever needed the default.

Re: add notification email
I think it is easier to replace my email with a distribution email, that way it goes to me and someone else on that distribution email. Can you show me where all the places to change that for all alerts of hosts/services.
Thanx

Re: add notification email
Is it just a single distribution email? Or a list?
It would still be in place for a contact email in the Core Config Manager.
Have you tried using the distribution email with a user that already receives notifications on all hosts/services?

Re: add notification email
Are you adding it to a XI user? or a contact user in the CCM?
Add it to the user/contact that receives up and down notifications.
You can add it in the CCM --> contact --> user
For the XI user go to --> XI Home --> Admin --> Manage Users

Re: add notification email
I am using XI by the way,
Right now with Manager users: (2 users here)
1. myself ([email protected]), which I am able to get the notificattion of service/host
2. test user ([email protected])which is not getting the notifcation alerts
My question:
If I replace [email protected] with [email protected], is this all I need to door is there somewhere I need to do for all the service/host alerts?

Re: add notification email
There shouldn't be anywhere else. Simply replacing the emails should be all that is required.
You could change the email address in both places just to be sure.

Code: Select all
You can add it in the CCM --> contact --> user
