package centos-release is not installed

I have a newly installed Redhat 6 system. The license has been fully registered. I downloaded xi-2011r2.2.tar and started the install. But I get the following error:

Does anyone know where I went wrong ?

Can you post the "install.log" file? It is in the "/tmp/nagiosxi".

Is the Gnome GUI installed on this system?

Yes it is.
During install, I chose many additional packages. I'm thinking I will have to reinstall which is not a big deal.
Once I choose the Base install, are there any additional packages needed ?

No, we actually prefer the base installation package for RHEL, our scripts take care of all of the necessary dependencies. If you're not too far into it I'd try re-installing with the base package of RHEL.

Still no luck. I reinstalled with just the base package and got the same error:
