It turns out Torrus has done some testing with nagios plugins: http://torrus.org/devdoc/wd.launcher.po ... os_plugins

Without being able to point to a specific user request, it's highly unlikely the devs are going to spend any time on this. I guess if you do have a chance to take a look at it and see if it could meet your needs, then I can put in a feature request.

As a follow up to this. I ended up using a custom plugin called check_if_traffic64.pl and modifying it for what I needed. I also wrote a custom wizard for getting all the index numbers, service descriptions, max port rate, community string etc. I was able to do this without scanning the card since Calix has made their index numbers logical for the E7-20 series of chassis.

index number for E7 PON ports = 3xxyy

xx = Card number
yy = port number

ie for PON port 4 on card 7 the index # would be 30704 and if you wanted to monitor port 8 on card 15 it would be 31508.

Thanks for the follow-up!

It definitely sounds like it worked since you wrote a wizard for this.

We do have a Nagios Exchange site where people can share their plugins and projects. If you're up for sharing this wizard I'm sure it will benefit a lot of people.

You can create an account and attach your wizard to the configuration wizards category.

Was there anything else or are we okay to lock this up?
