Re-install XI, can I active license as normal?

Dear Support

I plan to re install new fresh Nagios XI (Move to new system, new SAN, and extend the disk).
The local IP and WAN IP is the same.

Can I activate the new Nagios XI by the license key as normal? Do I need to de-activate the old one?

If you keep the same IP or if you restore from a backup, you won't need to reactivate your license. Also, keep in mind that each Nagios XI license is approved for up to three installations: one primary monitoring/production, one backup/failover, and one test environment. As long as you are only using one install for production monitoring, you are within the boundaries of our licensing policy.

If you eventually activate Nagios XI on three IP's and need to migrate one of them to a new IP, simply contact our sales department at [email protected]. They can typically offer additional installs. Let us know if you have any more questions. Thank you!

Update: After I spoke to our sales team, I need to make some corrections/clarifications.

You will actually need to active XI again, but if the IP is the same on the new machine, you can use your original activation key (if you don't have it, sales can supply it to you). Or, you can just hit the activations page to get it again. Either way, it won't require a *new* activation key, or count as a new activation in API.

So, if you install XI fresh on a new server, you will still need to apply your license key to the install, whether it has the same IP or not. Once you apply the key, it will prompt you to activate. You can either add your original activation key (if you have it on file), or go to the activations page to fetch it again.
