NagiosXI High Availability Option in DR situation

Post by imadc »

Hello CS

Our Company is looking into ways to get Nagios Alive in a Disaster Recovery Scenario in two different Data centers in different geographic locations.

Are you guys aware of any module in the enterprise edition for NagiosXI that will allow to have Active-Active or Active-Passive scenario of two different NagiosXI servers that monitor the infrastructure.

Is there a best or common use case/configuration that your recommend to handle such scenario?

Thanks

Every installation and corporate environment is different and the needs are also different and as such there isn't one correct way. In the following documentation we outline several methods

One thing I will point out is that with an Active-Active setup where you have 2 systems actively monitoring in production you would need more than 1 Nagios XI license

Thanks Scott for the links and info

Quick question if we have one Active NagiosXI Server A in 1 Datacenter and another Free NagiosXI Server B in a second Datacenter where B is only monitoing A to detect if it is up like what is mentioned for offshore monitoring in this link https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... Server.pdf

If we are backup up the database of A on nightly basis. if Server A got corrupted or deleted in a disaster scenario, can we restore the DB in Server B after we apply a full licensee on it. Will it then be a fully configured server like Server A was with all hosts/services/options/configurations/... ?

Thanks

Yes and this is acceptable, where server B is monitoring Server A, detects an outage and then activates a restore of your choosing
