nagios ql ?

Post by benhank »

when i run "Check configuration files:" I get

Warning: Service 'CPU Usage for VMHost' on host 'XXXXXXXX has no check time period defined!
so I grab the cfg file in order to check it out and in the heading I see:

###############################################################################
#
# Host configuration file
#
# Created by: Nagios QL Version 3.0.3
# Date: 2012-04-23 15:04:05
# Version: Nagios 3.x config file
#
# --- DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE BY HAND ---
# Nagios QL will overwite all manual settings during the next update
#
###############################################################################

so how to I edit this file? and clear up the warning?

This is just a warning - it is not an error, so don't worry too much about it. In order to fix it though, go to the Core Config Manager->Monitoring->Services->Config name filter->host 'XXXXX'->CPU Usage for VMHost->Modify->Check Settings tab and setup the "Check period". Click on "Save" and "Apply Configuration".

Hope this helps.

one question tho, why is that message there? will it appear on files I actually may have to change?

This warning (message) is there as a "best practices" indication. It is appearing because of a missing setting from the base host and service templates. It is not an error, so it will not create any issues.
