Hello:
We are running Nagios XI 5.4.11 on a RHEL 6.x physical server and will be migrating to a CentOS 7.4 (OEL) Virtual server running Nagios XI 5.4.12. I have read the information from here https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... ios-XI.pdf and watched the video from here https://support.nagios.com/kb/article.php?id=180
I do know that I will have to upgrade the existing Nagios XI production physical server from version 5.4.11 to version 5.4.12 first.
My question is:
Do I need to create the Users on the new server first in "Configure - Core Config Manager - CCM Admin - Manage Users" prior to the migration (and any other custom items) since I did not find any reference in the documentation or video indicating that the backup process actually backed up those items, too?
Thank you.

Re: Migrating Nagios XI from physical server to VM
The backup + restore procedures you linked back up everything the system needs to be restored onto another system running the same version of XI: users, contacts, hosts, services, dashboards, reports, historical data, etc.
The only things that are not backed up are system-level binaries such as MySQL and Apache - hence the requirement to restore onto an existing fresh install of the same version, since that install takes care of these dependencies.

Thank you! However, I still need to ask since I won't assume and it didn't state - Host Groups and Service Groups included, too, yes?

Glad to help! I'll be closing this up now, but feel free to open another thread if you need anything in the future!
