Nagios XI 5.5 release date

The current Nagios XI version (5.4.13) still ships Nagios plugins version 2.0.3 (quite old) and according a support ticket (#920548) that was closed by Scott Nagios plugins will be updated to version 2.2.1 when XI 5.5 comes out.

So my question is: what will be the release date for XI 5.5?
(roadmap https://www.nagios.com/roadmaps/says Q2, but a more precise estimate is appreciated)

Q2 is as precise as we can get right now. Obviously everyone is hoping for sooner rather than later but having it be ready for release will take priority.

The 5.5 update is taking far too long if you ask me and has been postponed for almost 4 quarters now.. Just looked it up, in this thread https://support.nagios.com/forum/viewto ... s&start=10
it was even said

"Currently, we're looking at June for the 5.5 release. That's tentative though and subject to change."

'subject to change' is starting to get a very broad meaning. I've been watching the roadmap for about a year now, Q3 2017 became Q4, Q1 2018 and now Q2 2018...

"NagVis integration and component update" is still in it I hope?

Hello Willem,

It has been a long time, I agree. We've had a lot of large internal projects that involve redoing parts of XI that will be in 5.5 which have been pushing back the release date. It is coming together now though and were are heavily testing it and touch up internal bugs. Our release cycle would normally be much faster for minor updates but 5.5 is quite large, almost as big as 2014->5.0.

I think that Q2 is a pretty solid estimate and unless something goes majorly wrong it should be out before July, which would be before the end of Q2. There have been a few things that aren't mentioned on the roadmap (internals of XI) that changed too, that also pushed it out a ways.

As for the NagVis integration. It will be in there, it is proactively updated so you'll be getting the latest version of NagVis available (likely 1.9.8 depending on when they release it) and it will be integrated into XI so that you don't have to log in.
