Nagios for monitoring WAN

i want to know is it good software for monitoring WAN environment ???
anybody knows which tools are the best for monitoring WAN.

Our software can do remote monitoring for WAN's, the only thing that would be a potential issue is how the firewalls are set up. We have tools like linux and windows agents that can install on remote machines to be monitored. Again, these will work as long as the firewalls are configured correctly.
