Nagios® Core™ 4.1.1 vs SNMP

Post by kvsanoj »

Hi,

I'm using Nagios® Core™ 4.1.1 server with NRPE client, can I safely disable/remove SNMP service from my cleint machines, will it cause any issue to Nagios client service in those machines.

Thanks

We have no ability to make recommendations on if it is safe for you to remove any services from your client machines.

Hi,

Thank you for your update.

Just to clarify, SNMP is necessary for Nagios?

No it isn't required for Nagios, you can perform many checks with agents, but :
A) We don't know if any Nagios plugins you are using are using SNMP (many, many, many do)
B) We don't know if you have any other systems collecting SNMP data from your client computers
