XI 5.5.0 Automatic Configuration Snapshots broken?

Post by GldRush98 »

It seems that automatic configuration snapshots are no longer occurring on the XI machines I've updated to 5.5.0.
Snapshots are still taken on config change it looks, but the automatic snapshots that ran ~once a day have stopped.

Was this changed in 5.5.0 or is this a problem?
Thanks!

Hello@GldRush98. I think CCM snapshots only make sense on config changes. If no configs changed why make another snapshot? You could still set up Nagios XI backups on a daily basis. That would make sense as backups save not just the configs but pretty much everything in the system related to XI.

What version did you upgrade from?

I remember some time ago we did have an automated reconfigure run daily but It's been gone for quite some time.

If this is desireable for you, though you can easily add the following cron job

Code: Select all

0 0 * * * /usr/local/nagiosxi/scripts/nom_create_nagioscore_checkpoint.sh

It was the lastest release before upgrading. I think 5.4.13. I suppose it doesn't matter really, but I just noticed it on the couple machines I've upgraded. Snapshots went from daily to only on reconfig. If this is the expected behavior going forward, that is cool, just didn't see that mentioned elsewhere and wanted to confirm something deeper wasn't broke. :)

It really is, I honestly don't know when it was removed, but I know we had people who were upset because their "good snaphots were all from when they didn't purposefully apply config.

This is the new normal.
