Bnechmark nagios server

Post by benhank »

Hey guys.

I want to benchmark my nagios servers prior to installing grafana to graph perfdata as per the knowledge-base article.
https://support.nagios.com/kb/article/n ... a-805.html
But..um...what exactly should I benchmark?
I mainly want to see if there any performance hits incurred after the install but I don't know how to go about it or what I should be measuring. Can I get some advice on this?
Thanks!

This may be a bit outdated, but check it out:

https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... ios-XI.pdf

I would check the server metrics - Load, CPU, Memory, etc. (Admin > System Status) before and after installing graphana. You could also check the nagios stats (Admin > Monitoring Engine Status). To view the nagios stats, you could also run the following command from the command line:

Code: Select all

/usr/local/nagios/bin/nagiostats
Hope this helps.
