Hello, I'm running 5.5.0, 64-bit, VM, CentOS 7
I asked recently about changing the name of localhost to FQDN. That seemed to be OK with support folks.
Well, I have now been asked: Can the IP can be changed from 127.0.0.1 to the result of: nslookup <fqdn> ?
Localhost name and IP change?
Re: Localhost name and IP change?
I'm not entirely clear what the question is - localhost should usually always point to a 127.0.0.1 while a fqdn can resolve to an actual(routable, accessible by other machines, etc...) IP address. Does this help answer your question? If not, please provide more detail.

Re: Localhost name and IP change?
Hello,
My support staff wants to change 127.0.0.1 to the actual IP number, for the localhost definition. Its not a big deal if I say "NO" but I'd like a reason to do so, namely your recommendation.

localhost should remain pointed at 127.0.0.1.
