Does Selenium still work on NagiosXI 5?

Post by IT-OPS-SYS »

In the past around 2017, I have deployed some selenium test checks using the integration guide here:

https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... 1532030341

However the original initiative for the integration stalled and the project was put on hold. I attempt to come back to this and encountered several issues and see that the document has not been updated since Feb 2017. I assume this is related to the Selenium IDE not being compatible with Firefox Quantum. I recall seeing an announce that the IDE had reached end of life and would no longer be supported. Attempting to substitute the new Selenium engine for the IDE used in the pdf document did not get my very far.

My question is will this functionality be ported over to the new Selenium engine or to a similar tool in the near future? A forum search revealed that such a project was in the work but the post was never marked as resolved. Thanks.

My experience has been that the IDE works fine with Quantum, but the plugin to save tests as perl doesn't support any recent Firefox versions. I'm not aware of any project to remedy this.

Pardon my ignorance but I could not find any link for submitting a feature request. What steps need to be taken to have one submitted. I would like to see integration between Nagios and Katalon Studio. Thanks.

I'm sorry I misunderstood, I thought you were going to make a feature request to the perl packages to support recent versions of Firefox. Was this not your intention?

Hi Scott,

My apologies, my request is not so much perl support for Firefox as it is having an integrated solution for Automated testing similar to what existed previously with Selenium. I mentioned Katalon as it is what I used to build a python script as a workaround.

I will put in a request for you to try to find a current working solution and update the documentation.

I cannot give a timeline on when this will be executed.
