Installing nrpe as separate daemon - not xinetd

Post by junkertf »

Hello,

Is there a way to parameter somehow the fullinstall script containing by linux-nrpe-agent.tar.gz to install the nrpe agent as autonomous daemon and not as xinetd service? Or the only way for that pourpose is if we compile nrpe from source?

Can be the epel repo contained nrpe-agents configured in the installation process to run as daemon and not as xinetd?

Thank you, best regards,

Hello, @junkertf. Unfortunately, this is not supported. The only way to install nrpe as a standalone daemon is with the source installation. Is there a particular reason you don't want to use the xinetd? It only runs the binary when it's necessary, where the standalone daemon runs 24/7.

Hello,

Sorry for the late answer. We use the xinetd method.
It can be closed.

Thanks!
