Documentation help

Post by Bitflogger »

Hello,

I have users that legitimately have about zero spare time, they want what they want and nothing more.

Is there something available that will fit this need;

creating a searchable quick reference guide that includes examples. So far, the following items have been identified as procedures that should be added:

- How to add a contact for a server, change contacts, and view contacts
- How to add/change monitoring for a host - add services/checks, change parameters, etc...
- How to add a new check to a group of hosts
- How to add a host to downtime

Thanks for your time!

Just to add to what @jforcier said:
- How to add/change monitoring for a host - add services/checks, change parameters, etc...
The easiest way to start monitoring a host, e.g. Windows, Linux, etc. is to run one of the wizards that ships with Nagios XI by default. Using the CCM is for more advanced users, but you could also use it to add/remove/modify hosts and services.
- How to add a new check to a group of hosts
Under the CCM, you could either add a service to multiple hosts (CCM > Services <your service> > Manage Hosts) or you can add it to a hostgroup (CCM > Services <your service> > Manage Host Groups). It the second case, the service will be added to all hosts, that are members of the hostgroup. As you continue to add new members to this hostgroup, the service will be automatically added to the newly added hosts.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have further questions. Thank you!
