missing performance graph

Post by scharft »

Hi,

the nagios xi instance is partly very slow, the process state stop and starts again and last day/night we had missing performance graph, please see the attachmend. You see the missing data and this happens to all hosts in the instace...
The amont of spooled files is very low.
Can you check what happen and provide a solution to avoid this?

Best Regards
Thomas

If the system was too slow, perhaps the load was high, and exceeded the load_threshold's value in the /usr/local/nagios/etc/pnp/npcd.cfg file (the "default" value is 10.0), which caused the npcd to stop. This is what I assume happened, but I could be wrong. To be sure, we need to take a look at the logs. I would recommend that you follow the steps, outlined in our KB article on performance graphs problems here:

https://support.nagios.com/kb/article/n ... ems-9.html

This article helps finding the root cause of most common performance graph issues. Let us know if you get stuck on something.

Thank you for the link but i know this a checked the spooled files, thats why i'm wrote that the value is low.
Increasing the log and data verbosity will help me find the error/issue when it happen again, but not what happen the day before?

When you said that you checked the spooled files, did you mean you checked all three directories (xidpe, perfdata, and checkresults)?

What is the output of the following commands?

Code: Select all

ls /usr/local/nagios/var/spool/xidpe | wc -l
ls /usr/local/nagios/var/spool/perfdata | wc -l
ls /usr/local/nagios/var/spool/checkresults | wc -l
Note: If you are using ramdisk, you will need to run:

Code: Select all

ls /var/nagiosramdisk/spool/xidpe | wc -l
ls /var/nagiosramdisk/spool/perfdata/ | wc -l
ls /var/nagiosramdisk/spool/checkresults/ | wc -l
unless it is a manual (custom) setup.
Increasing the log and data verbosity will help me find the error/issue when it happen again, but not what happen the day before?
It depends on the error/issue. It may still show up, but you definitely will see more details after you increase the verbosity.

Do you see any errors/clues in the /usr/local/nagios/var/npcd.log or in the /usr/local/nagios/var/perfdata.log for time period, when graphs disappeared?

i have changed the settings as recommend and attached both files.
Can you help me to check this because i really don't know what I'm looking for.

A new situation, some of the reports we sound out early in the mornig doesn't work.
When i open the report in the nagiosxi dashboard, it works, all reports look good in the dasboard..

The issue on the instance are still increasing, can we have a session to make health check?

Best Regards

We may need to schedule a remote session to further troubleshoot this issue, but let's take a look at your profile first.

Go to Admin > System Config > System Profile > Download Profile, save and PM me (or any other member of the Nagios Support team) the profile.zip file. Thank you!

thank you, attached is the profile!
The issue with the reports is still on, i have send the reports manually 2 times before he works.

Can you send me your calendar to book a session?

##update later:

hi, the missing performance graph happens again, every 2 or 3 weeks minimum so this is a recurrently outage and every weeks and since we installed the mod-gearmon, all hosts in nagios fall in status down with error message.

i tried to troubleshoot with
https://support.nagios.com/forum/viewto ... 0&start=50
and other public links but nothing worked for longer time.
Please assist...
