event captured by Nagios but did not sent.

Post by amane »

Hi,

Nagios captured the ICMP loss for some of the hosts but it did not send the trap, even the event is not available in eventman.log file.

Thanks & Regards,

Hello, @amane. What kind of device are you monitoring? Are you monitoring this device using SNMP traps? If so you need to check the settings on the device itself to see why it hasn't sent the message. Or are you asking why Nagios did not send a notification when the service was critical?

Hi npolovenko,

yes, my question is 'why Nagios did not send a notification when the service was critical?'.

Two of the our prod windows servers were down (server not in network) for some days and Nagios has not sent any host down trap. This is for host ping check.

Please find attached graph which is captured by nagios as these server were down.

@amane, I'd like to gather some more information before I can conclude what happened. Please go to the XI web interface, then go to the Reports tab and in the left column click on State History Report. Then generate a state history report for the service in question for the time period where a notification was supposed to go out. Please generate a notifications report with the same parameters as well. You can upload reports here or send them to me in a private message.

Hi npolovenko,

Please find attached state history report for both server.

There is no service listed in drop down service menu as this for ICMP check. However host not in network event not in history but okk event available in the history.

10/29/2018 7:35 <Hostname> UP HARD 5 of 5 OK - <Ip Address>: rta 0.450ms, lost 0%
10/29/2018 7:33 <Hostname> UP HARD 5 of 5 OK - <IP Address>: rta 5.111ms, lost 0%

I'll send you state history in private message.

Hi, @amane. I recieved your message but the file was not attached. When you select a file in a private message don't forget to click on "Add the File" button. Can you try one more time?
