I have recently upgraded our Nagios XI installations to 5.5.6 and have found that since the update that the bulk clone and import is not functioning as it did in the past. I have followed the steps in https://support.nagios.com/forum/viewto ... 16&t=51050 to rewrite the configs however when trying to add several host groups to a to-be-imported host it will only read the first host group in a list.
Previously you could add several host groups to the host by putting the list of host groups in quotes and separated by commas, however now it seems that only the first host group is being added.
I have also tried using single quotes surrounding the list of host groups, however it seems to pick 5 groups at random and apply them instead of all listed.
Has the way the groups are functioned changed in the new version of XI?
Unable to add multiple host groups with bulk import
Re: Unable to add multiple host groups with bulk import
What was the version of Nagios XI that you upgrade from and what was the version of the "Bulk Host Cloning and Import Monitoring Wizard" that you were using (that "worked")? We would like to try to recreate the issue in-house.I have recently upgraded our Nagios XI installations to 5.5.6 and have found that since the update that the bulk clone and import is not functioning as it did in the past.
Even if this worked in the past, it was "by accident". The wizard was not designed to (intended to) add multiple hostgroups.Previously you could add several host groups to the host by putting the list of host groups in quotes and separated by commas, however now it seems that only the first host group is being added.
Not that I am aware of.Has the way the groups are functioned changed in the new version of XI?

Re: Unable to add multiple host groups with bulk import
Previously, we were on XI version 5.4.13 and bulk host import version 2.0.2
In this version we were able to make a csv for imports that contained Name, Address, Description, and Host Group. If the multiple host groups were enclosed in double quotes, but still comma delimited within the quotes, the host groups would be added to the host object. It's surprising to me to hear this was not supposed to be used in this way.

Re: Unable to add multiple host groups with bulk import
We haven't been able to add multiple hostgroups even when using a version 2.0.2 of the "Bulk Host Cloning and Import" wizard. Our developers confirmed that this wizard was NOT designed to add multiple hostgroups (not before and not now), so I don't know how this is (was) even possible... I can add a feature request for adding this functionality on your behalf if you wish.

Re: Unable to add multiple host groups with bulk import
@lmiltchev
I would appreciate if you will enter the feature request. It was a nice way of adding a host to a bunch of host groups and confirm that the proper services were applied.
We will manually add host groups in the meantime. Thank you for your assistance. Please proceed with closing this thread.

Re: Unable to add multiple host groups with bulk import
I filed an internal feature request for adding this functionality. Your request is still in the approval queue. Please keep in mind that the decision to implement the enhancement is at the sole discretion of our development team.
